An Article by Yoga Rahiyang, President Les Clefs d’Or Indonesia
On the 15th and 16th of January, I had the privilege of representing Les Clefs d’Or Indonesia at an educational seminar organized by Les Clefs d’Or Japan. Alongside my colleague Rizky Pratama, who is the Education Chair for Les Clefs d’Or Indonesia, we embarked on an insightful journey to Hakone, Japan. The seminar, led by Maurice Dancer, Chief Concierge at The Pierre, A Taj Hotel in New York, was centered around the theme, “What We Should Do Now for Future Generations – Looking to the Future of Concierges.” With Maurice’s leadership experience in Les Clefs d’Or USA and the International Education Committee, his insights were invaluable.
The seminar covered the evolving role of concierges and how we can contribute to shaping the future of the profession. Maurice emphasized the importance of mentoring younger generations and adapting to changing guest needs, which truly resonated with me. Throughout the seminar, we also engaged with fellow concierges from Les Clefs d’Or Japan and the Japan Concierge Association, exchanging experiences that broadened our perspectives. This educational journey was not only a personal learning experience but also an important mission for Les Clefs d’Or Indonesia. Rizky will share the knowledge and experience he gained during the seminar with our members, helping to implement similar educational systems in Indonesia and elevate our organization’s standards.
A special thank you goes to President Aiko Imaizumi of Les Clefs d’Or Japan and Mayako Sumiyoshi, Zone Director of Southeast Asia and Oceania, for their incredible hospitality and friendship. Their graciousness ensured that our stay was unforgettable
